Why We Turned Down Free Zone Commission

Most market entry consultants in the UAE make a meaningful share of their revenue from free zone referral commissions. We don't, and that's deliberate.

When you talk to a "company setup specialist," ask who pays them. In most cases, it's not only you — it's the free zone also. Referral commissions for new company registrations are standard practice across the UAE's free zone ecosystem, and they shape advice more than clients realise. A consultant earning a placement fee from Free Zone A has every incentive to recommend Free Zone A, regardless of whether it's the right structure for your business model, your visa requirements, or your banking relationships. The commission is often more than what you pay as service fee.

We don't take that fee. Zarwa Global holds no affiliations with any UAE free zone and receives no commission from any of them. We're not a company set-up agency, and we never set out to be one — we don't manage your company, we help you set it up. The control stays in your hands.

Setup is administration. Strategy is the value.

Incorporating a company in the UAE — choosing a jurisdiction, filing the paperwork, securing the licence — is an administrative exercise. It's necessary, but it's not where the risk lives, and it's not where the value sits. The decisions that actually determine whether a market entry succeeds happen before incorporation: which jurisdiction suits your activity and visa plan, how your structure interacts with banking and compliance, what your go-to-market and operating model need to look like once you're live.

We support and guide you through the formation process with the free zone or authority of your choice — we don't manage your company on your behalf, and we're not a gatekeeper between you and the free zone. You can speak to the free zone directly at any point, without us in the middle and without us charging for the conversation. Control stays with you throughout. Neither are you charged a fee everytime you want to communicate with the freezone.

Costs are transparent from the outset. You see what the free zone charges and what we charge, with no mark-ups folded into the registration fee and no surprises later.

Where PRO services are needed — visa processing, document clearance, government liaison — we work with a trusted partner who arranges what's required. We don't build that into our own fee structure either.

We coordinate the registration on your behalf or with you as part of the engagement. We don't build our business model around it, and we don't let it shape what we tell you.

What independence actually changes

It changes the advice. When recommending a jurisdiction or structure carries no financial upside for us, the recommendation is the one that fits your business — not the one that fits our referral arrangement. It also changes the conversation: we can be direct about which free zones are a poor fit for a given sector, which structures create downstream banking friction, and where "popular" isn't the same as "right," without that conflicting with how we get paid.

That's the model. Independent advice, administrative tasks handled as part of the engagement, and a value proposition that sits entirely in the strategy — not in the registration fee.
